For most people without a kidney or heart condition that requires fluid restriction, this modest, consistent habit is a reasonable complement to sodium awareness, not a replacement for it.
It's also worth building hydration into the same moments you're already checking blood pressure at home: drinking a glass of water earlier in the day, rather than right before a reading, avoids the short-term fluid shifts that can make a single reading harder to interpret, and pairing the two habits together tends to make both easier to keep up consistently than treating them as separate, unrelated routines.
